"The princess whispered into his car : "The king has not done you justice. It was you who won at the combat, my poet, and I have come to crown you with the crown of victory." (Tagore, paragraph 48)

...The connection between the them of victory and this short story is that the king cheated shehkar who was the poet had just accomplished victory and has been awarded for being victorious, and beating the king. Also there doesn't have to be a trophy when your victorious, but achieving the crown of victory is very important in this short story because as he was being given this crown it was a garland of flowers of the princesses neck and she placed it on his head and as soon as it touched his head he collapsed onto his bed of death. Victory takes great sacrifice and in this story his sacrifice was the death of himself, he did not know that was going to occur but that is what occurred after he was told he won.
